Cell Biology

OVERVIEW

Living organisms are divided into three principal categories: archaebacteria, eubacteria and eukaryotes. All these organisms are composed of cells as the fundamental life unit although they differ in structure and organization.

Cell biology is the study of composition, organization and function of the cells, of which all living matter is composed. Basically, cell biology is a natural partner of many other intertwined disciplines, such as biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, anatomy and physiology. It has strong connections with all of disciplines. Also, cell biology has specialized areas, such as neuroscience, that are of such importance that they warrant their own category. Thus, cell biology is as complex as the enormous variety of cells that has long been a major part of the research in this field.

CELL BIOLOGY ANTIBODY

Monoclonal antibody (mAb) is well-established tool for investigating cell biology with widespread applicability. Monoclonal antibody has peculiar characteristics, high-specificity and high-sensitivity binding targets, that make antibody an ideal tool for basic research as well as for cancer diagnostic and therapeutics. In basic research, monoclonal antibodies are used to detect proteins in native conformation (immune localization) and denatured form (western blot), or as high affinity binders in immune-affinity based assays. In medical therapy, monoclonal antibodies have significant advantages compared to conventional chemical compound-based therapies. They show favourable pharmacokinetics and pharmacotoxicity, have few side effects, and are able to recruit immune effectors to initiate destruction of the target cells.
