The EBOV glycoprotein (GP) is a class I fusion protein comprising disulfide-linked subunits, GP1 and GP2, which associate to form a chalice-shaped trimer. The GP1 subunit binds to the EBOV receptor, Niemann-Pick C1 (NPC1), allowing GP2-mediated fusion of the viral and host-cell membranes.
