Product listThe Campath-1 antigen (CD52) is a glycoprotein with a molecular weight ranging between 21 and 28 kDa, which is widely expressed across mature lymphocytes, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells, among other immune cells, and is anchored on glycosylphosphatidylinositol. CD52 is a non-regulatory membrane glycoprotein capable of activating T cells and modulating immune responses. Monoclonal antibodies targeting CD52 serve as effective and potent interventions in clinical settings for transplant patients.

CD52 Biology
Principal investigations on CD52 function and pathways concentrate on regulatory T cells. CD52 can exploit the TCR signal transduction mechanisms to promote T cell activation and downstream signaling. Knockout experiments have revealed that this process is reliant on the expression of CD45 and TCR, proffering co-stimulatory signals for T cell proliferation and activation.
Related studies have also uncovered the dichotomy of CD52 signals. Soluble CD52 molecules can interact reciprocally with Siglec-10 on the surface of T cells, significantly inhibiting T cell activation, thereby regulating T cell activation.

CD52 Therapeutics
Despite limited comprehension of the physiological pathways and pathophysiological significance of CD52, targeted antibody strategies are considered promising, feasible therapeutic interventions.
- Anti-CD52 Monoclonal Antibodies
Monoclonal antibodies against CD52 have been subjected to extensive research and have found widespread clinical application as interventional and adjunct treatment strategies for diseases such as lymphocytic leukemia, organ transplantation, and multiple sclerosis.
- CD52 and Tumor Microenvironment
Breast cancer oncology screenings have provided evidence that CD52 may contribute to preserving the immune privilege of the TME. This finding implies the potential of CD52 as an intervention target or prognostic marker for breast cancer.
