Infectious Disease

OVERVIEW

Infectious diseases are caused by the invasion of pathogenic organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or other parasites. Through a series of immune responses, the immune system produces a large number of antibodies that attack invaders, clear foreign bodies from the body, and protect people from infection. When immunity is compromised, uncontrolled infections can cause diseases. The purpose of infectious diseases research is to understand the molecular mechanisms and develop new treatment and prevention strategies. Throughout history, antibodies have displayed outstanding performances in providing protection from infectious diseases. Antibodies are widely regarded as useful research tools to support the study of the genetic and molecular mechanisms of infectious diseases.
