Product listFLT1, also known as VEGFR1, serves as a decoy receptor for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), whose activation and subsequent downstream cascades may lead to various biological outcomes, contributing to pathological processes including but not limited to cancer and pulmonary fibrosis.
Structural of FLT1
FLT1 can bind with VEGF and placental growth factor, exhibiting widespread expression in vascular endothelial cells and peripheral blood monocytes. It belongs to the family of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFRs), characterized structurally by extracellular ligand-binding domain, transmembrane domain, juxta membrane domain, split intracellular TK domain, and C-terminal tail.

Functional Attributes of FLT1
The primary function of FLT1 lies in modulating vascular development, influencing vascular permeability, and participating in homeostasis under physiological or pathological conditions through induction of VEGF activity upon binding with its ligand VEGF-A. Relative to another VEGF receptor, VEGFR2, FLT1 is widely acknowledged to possess minimal signaling activity and is regarded as a decoy receptor activating VEGF activity. Conversely, FLT1's other ligands, VEGF-B and PlGF, competitively bind with FLT1, thereby releasing VEGF-A and facilitating downstream pathway activation of VEGFR2.
FLT-Associated Diseases
In diseases related to tumors and angiogenesis, FLT1 and its ligand VEGF emerge as crucial associated targets. Compelling evidence also demonstrates that PlGF and VEGFR1 signaling not only impact tumor growth and metastasis but also influence the development of cardiovascular diseases and rheumatoid arthritis. Recent studies have further revealed that FLT1 undergoes differential regulation under hypoxia and inflammatory conditions, thereby affecting the growth and function of cells such as retinal and choroidal endothelial cells. Moreover, FLT1 plays a deleterious role in pulmonary fibrosis.
