The KSHV latent protein LANA2, also called viral interferon regulatory factor 3, is exclusively expressed in KSHV-infected B cells, inhibits apoptosis induced by p53 and the double-stranded RNA-dependent protein kinase R, and inhibits NF-κB activation, interferon regulatory factor 7-mediated interferon signal transduction, and virus-mediated transcriptional activity of the IFNA promoter.
