Trichomonas vaginalis is an infection caused by a tiny organism (a living cell) called Trichomonas vaginalis. It can infect the vagina, the urethra (tube that carries urine out of the body) and under the foreskin of the penis. The infection is easily passed from one person to another through sexual contact.
