IFNB1 Specific Neutra™ Antibody Products

Product list

IFNB1, short for Interferon Beta 1, is a type I interferon protein encoded by the IFNB1 gene in humans. It is of paramount importance in the innate immune response, specifically in safeguarding against viral infections. IFNB1 is produced by various cell types, including fibroblasts, epithelial cells, and immune cells, in response to viral infections, bacterial infections, or immune stimuli.

Its Gene ID: 3456, UniProtKB ID: P01574, and OMIM ID: 147640.

INFB1 Pathway

  • IFNB1 primarily exerts its effects through the JAK-STAT signaling pathway.
  • Upon binding to its receptor, IFNAR1/IFNAR2, IFNB1 activates Janus kinases (JAKs), leading to the phosphorylation of STAT1 and STAT2.
  • The interferon-stimulated gene factor 3 (ISGF3) complex, composed of phosphorylated STAT1 and STAT2, interacts with IRF9. This complex undergoes translocation to the nucleus and proceeds to stimulate the transcription of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs).
  • IFNB1’s induction of ISGs leads to the establishment of an antiviral state within cells, inhibiting viral replication and spread.
  • Deficiencies in IFNB1 signaling or dysregulation of its production are associated with susceptibility to viral infections, such as influenza, herpes simplex virus, and multiple sclerosis (MS).
  • In multiple sclerosis, IFNB1 therapy has been a mainstay in disease management, with its immunomodulatory effects believed to reduce the frequency and severity of relapses.

Applications and Effects of IFNB1 Antibody

IFNB1 antibodies are widely utilized in both research and therapeutic applications, specifically for modulating the signaling of IFNB1. In the context of research, scientists often utilize these antibodies to neutralize the activity of IFNB1. This is done to facilitate further investigation into the function and implications of IFNB1 in various biological processes.

On the therapeutic front, antibodies for IFNB1 are engineered and used to obstruct the signaling pathways of IFNB1 in different diseases. Typically, they are used in conditions where there is an excessive production of IFNB1, which further contributes to the pathology of the disease.

For instance, in certain autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), the overexpression of IFNB1 can result in an exacerbation of inflammation. In these instances, antibodies for IFNB1 can be efficiently used to inhibit the excessive effects of IFNB1. This, in turn, aids in the alleviation of the associated symptoms caused by these diseases, providing relief for patients suffering from these conditions.

Overall, IFNB1 is a critical mediator of the innate immune response, with implications for both health and disease. Creative Biolabs provides a wide range of IFNB1 antibodies to clients focused on IFNB1 and its therapeutic research.
