Product listInterleukin 13 receptor subunit alpha 2 (IL13RA2), also known as IL-13R or IL-13Rα2, is a single-pass type I membrane protein located on the cell membrane. It binds with a high affinity to IL13, a regulatory cytokine involved in B-cell maturation and differentiation. This protein is overexpressed in normal tissues, like archives, testis, and brain. IL13RA2 is associated with many diseases such as glioblastoma, interstitial lung disease, and brain cancer.

Functions of Blockade of the IL13RA2 Pathway
The IL-13 and IL13RA2 interaction (Fig.1A) activates SRC and subsequently induces the PI3K / AKT, ERK, and FAK signaling cascades, which finally promotes the survival, proliferation, migration/invasion of tumor cells.
The CHI3L1 and IL13RA2 interaction (Fig.1B) activates the signaling pathways to regulate apoptosis, pyroptosis, inflammation activation, and tumor metastasis.

Treatment Strategies by targeting IL13RA2
Anti-tumor strategies targeting the IL13RA2 pathway are under hot investigation for IL13RA2-positive tumors. These IL13RA-associated therapeutic strategies include immunotoxins, tumor vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADC), CAR T cells, and peptide-drug conjugates. These strategies have both advantages and disadvantages in generating antitumor invasion and metastasis effects.
