Product listMS4A1, also known as CD20, is a non-glycosylated protein of 33-37 kDa, commonly recognized as the universal B-cell marker. Expression for MS4A1 initiates in the late-stage pre-B lymphocytes and ceases in plasmablasts or plasma cells. Studies about its functionality have affirmed that MS4A1 is essential for effective B-cell BCR signal transduction. Its activation is associated with various B cell surface factors and plays a critical role in B cell activation, proliferation, and differentiation.

MS4A1 Biology
MS4A1 serves as the universal B-cell marker, but its precise biological function is yet to be fully elucidated. Research reveals that MS4A1 interacts with multiple surface proteins, including B-cell receptors, CD53, CD81, and CD82, activating functional BCR signal pathways or other downstream signals. MS4A1 is considered one of the key signaling molecules necessary for T-dependent antigen reactions and T-independent humoral immune processes, as consistent with data obtained from MS4A1 mouse models.

In malignant B-cell tumors, MS4A1 exhibits variations in expression levels according to different tumor types. MS4A1 is considered as a potential therapeutic target for intervention in malignant B-cell tumors. Targeted antibody drugs have indeed been developed that demonstrate efficacy in B-cell leukemia and lymphomas, effectively enhancing overall survival rates and progression-free survival rates.

- MS4A1 in Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
With the advancing research into the pathology and immunology principles of MS, its molecular background is gradually shifting from T-cell mediated to B-cell mediated. Therefore, anti-MS4A1 antibody intervention is believed to be a prospective strategy for extended targeted intervention in MS.
