SNAP25 Specific Neutra™ Antibody Products

Product list

SNAP25, or Synaptosomal-Associated Protein 25, is a key protein involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter release in the brain. It is primarily found in presynaptic nerve terminals, where it plays a crucial role in the fusion of synaptic vesicles with the presynaptic membrane during neurotransmission.

Its Gene ID: 6616, UniProtKB ID: P60880, and OMIM ID: 600322.

SNAP25 Pathway

  • Neurotransmitter Release: When synaptic vesicles fuse with the presynaptic membrane, the SNARE complex is mediated by SNAP25, an indispensable part of the complex. For neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine to be released and facilitate neural connection, this fusion process is essential.
  • Calcium Signaling: SNAP25 also plays a role in initiating calcium-mediated signal transduction. It helps in the opening of voltage-gated calcium channels in neuronal cells, facilitating an influx of calcium ions.
  • Insulin Secretion: Apart from neurons, SNAP25 is also expressed in pancreatic beta cells. It is involved in the regulated secretion of insulin.
  • Botox Mechanism of Action: The therapeutic benefits of Botulinum toxin (Botox) in conditions such as hyperactive muscle disorders and certain types of headaches are attributed to its ability to cleave SNAP25. This prevents the release of acetylcholine, leading to muscle paralysis.
  • Synaptic Plasticity: Learning and memory are supported by synaptic plasticity, which is also linked to SNAP25. Impairments in cognition have been linked to mutations in this gene.
  • Disease Pathways: Mutations or dysfunctions of SNAP25 are linked to several psychiatric and neurological disorders, including schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), epilepsy, and Alzheimer's disease. By studying SNAP25, researchers hope to understand more about the pathological mechanisms of these diseases and develop potential therapeutic strategies.

SNAP25 Antibody Applications

  • Localization of SNAP25 Protein: SNAP25 antibody helps identify, quantity, and locate the presence of the SNAP25 protein in various tissues, especially those of the brain. This can provide valuable insights into the protein's role and distribution within the organism.
  • Cell Signaling Analysis: SNAP25 antibody is also crucial in determining the cellular pathways involving the SNAP25 protein. By observing the binding and response of the antibodies towards the proteins, researchers can comprehend their interactions in signaling pathways.
  • Role in Neurological Disorders: SNAP25 antibody is instrumental in studying the SNARE complex and the process of neurotransmitter release. By examining the antibody's interaction with the SNAP25 protein, researchers gain insights into the protein's role in various neurological disorders.

SNAP25 antibody is a powerful tool to study the specific structure of SNAP25 and related mutations in neurologic diseases. Creative Biolabs is a reliable supplier to provide effective SNAP25 antibodies widely used in neuroscience and medical research.
